For the adventurous crowd, this unguided wildlife tour of Alaska is not to be missed. In small groups of 6 explore Katmai National Park by boat aboard the “Alaska Dawn”.
Join your crew mates of a trip of a life time exploring the coast around Katmai National Park.
This all inclusive tour is just that, all inclusive. 3 meals a day and supplied soft drinks means you can relax and enjoy Alaska in all its glory, without worrying about a thing.
All you have to do is get to Kodiak Island the night and we pick you up by float plane. Enjoy the 90 mins sightseeing tour before arriving to the Alaska Dawn awaiting your arrival.
Remember this is NOT a workshop, more of an adventure. You will be joined by a bear guide for this tour. Dan and Jess will not be present (although Dan may make the odd guest appearance).
This tour is provided by Alaska Safari Unlimited LLC.
Once you transfer to the boat, your adventure is just starting.
While the scenery takes your breath away, you will be able to partake in some of the best charter fishing that you can find anywhere in the world.
You will catch many different species of fish Salmon (if fishing is your thing) and experience kayaking in “uncharted” waters. Be sure to bring your binoculars (and your camera) and watch the shoreline because Black Bear, “Grizzly” Brown Bear, Wolves, and more amazing animals inhabit this primeval country.
You will also have a chance to see thousands of sea birds and cruise through waters that are home to Sea Lions, Sea Otters, Humpback Whales, Orca Killer Whales, Porpoises, and Seals.
Since the groups are small, tours can be super flexible and find wildlife where we know it’s located. Unlike other “tours” which stick to a regimented plan.
Also there are regular landings for short hikes into the wilderness of Katmai National Park to look for brown bears.
Your guide and host Paul Brand has been running trips through some of Alaska’s most breath taking areas for the last twenty years. He has a vast knowledge and love for the Ocean and the Mountains that surround and is a unbelievable resource to find many of the states untouched areas.
Paul is a licensed Alaskan Master Guide and also has his Coast Guard Masters License of 100 tons. He takes pride in a 100 percent safety record and resides with his wife Christi and two boys Cole and Levi in Homer during the summer months.
Paul’s crew consists usually of a second captain and a deckhand depending on the excursion.
There are lots of activities and you can choose to stand at the rail and watch for whales to breach, enjoy some fishing, or relax at a comfortable table with a cup of coffee in one hand and look out through the picture windows at awesome scenery. You will be pampered with great meals including New York Steaks, seafood, fresh vegetables and fruits, nice desserts, lots of snacks and your favorite beverages.
The captain, Paul Brand, who is licensed by the US Coast Guard, is the owner and operator of the yacht. It is also outfitted with top of the line life saving, firefighting, and navigation equipment.
This will be an adventure experience of a lifetime and a chance to see some of the most spectacular scenic beauty, sea birds, marine mammals, and wildlife that the World has to offer. Join us for one of our custom Katmai National Park wildlife boat charters that you will never forget!

The Alaska Dawn is also equipped with a landing craft called a “skiff”. Using the skiff transfers from the boat to land are made possible to explore the wilderness by foot.
Some fitness is required as the terrain and locations are, well, wild ! However the pay off is amazing with access to the most secluded parts of Alaska in front of you.
Spend hours watching Brown Bears as they feed on salmon, clams and other coast line food in the summer. Bring your camera, long lenses and of course waterproofs.
You don’t have to be Usain Bolt to join us but a good level of fitness always helps make the trip go smoother.
The length you decide to be on your feet or walking around is up to you.
Saying that you we recommend you are able to hike with your daypack with cameras for 2/5 miles.
The terrain is unforgiving, so bring very sturdy boots, water proof “Alaskan Sneakers” are recommended.
We do not recommend this tour for those with medical conditions.
